Reeva Steenkamp murder docuseries acquired by Keshet Int’l ahead of Mipcom

Reeva Steenkamp was killed on February 14, 2013

Keshet International (KI) has acquired international distribution rights to a three-part docuseries about the life and death of model Reeva Steenkamp, who was murdered by Paralympic champion Oscar Pistorius.

The Israeli distributor will take My Name is Reeva: I Was Murdered by Oscar Pistorius (3×60’) to Mipcom in Cannes next month as part of its factual slate.

MultiChoice-owned M-Net has rights in Africa (outside French- and Portuguese-speaking territories) and debuted the show in August.

Produced by WB Productions in partnership with Cactus Tree Entertainment, Bloodrose Productions and Australia’s Global City Group, the series includes exclusive interviews with Reeva’s parents, Barry and June Steenkamp, as they endure a victim-offender dialogue with Pistorius as part of his request for early parole.

Set to be released to the global market next year to coincide with the 10th anniversary of Steenkamp’s death, the docuseries is directed by Warren Batchelor (204: Getting Away with Murder) and produced by David Taylor, with a script written by SAFTA winner Justin Strydom (Isidingo, High Rollers).
