Red Arrow’s Dorsey lands unscripted series about aviation pioneers the Wright brothers

Colorado-based production company Dorsey Pictures has landed the rights to produce an unscripted series based on the earliest days of manned flight.

The Fight to Flight examines the race between the Wright brothers and the Smithsonian family to become the first to take to the air in a powered aeroplane.

Red Arrow Studios-owned Dorsey Pictures secured the deal with The Wright Brothers USA, which is a commercial entity affiliated with The Wright Brothers Family Foundation, an organisation that supports the preservation of aviation history related to Orville and Wilbur Wright.

The limited series is being executive produced by Dorsey Pictures CEO Chris Dorsey and senior VP Matt Assmus.

“The Wright Brothers and the Smithsonian family race to space parallels that between Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos,” said Dorsey and Assmus. “Though technology has advanced, the duel reignites our fascination with space and competing entities vying for ownership of the space.”

Dorsey Pictures said it had its best year in 2021 with more than 70 hours of unscripted content produced, including Maine Cabin Masters, Building Off The Grid and Building Alaska. It also recently produced its first Imax film, Wings, narrated by Michael Keaton.
