The US-based streamer has acquired period dramas Eternal Love (58×45’), Princess Weiyoung (54×45’) and General & I (62×45’); plus modern Chinese drama Love O2O (30×45’). Negotiator (41×45’), Age of Legends (47×45’) and My Story for You (48×45’), meanwhile, will air as Viki originals.

Rakuten Viki has taken exclusive streaming rights to the Croton shows, some of which will be available in the US for the first time.

“Our watch time for Chinese content has grown exponentially in the last few years,” said Sarah Kim, senior VP of content and partnerships at Rakuten Viki. “This partnership with Croton Media solidifies our reputation as a platform of choice for international fans of Asian TV and entertainment.”

Based in California, Rakuten Viki started out as Viki in Asia in 2007 and was acquired by Japanese firm Rakuten for a reported US$200m in 2013.
