Pulse Films, First Look go nuclear

Vice-backed UK prodco Pulse Films and First Look Media in the US are co-developing and co-financing a drama that combines drug smuggling with terrorism.

Pulse’s Thomas Benski and Lucas Ochoa will executive produce Atomic Bazaar alongside First Look’s Michael Bloom and Adam Pincus. The show has been written by Greg Burke (71, Entebbe).

Based on the novel of the same name by William Langewiesche, Atomic Bazaar centres on a plot to use global drug-smuggling routes to get a nuclear weapon into a major city.

Adam Pincus, exec VP of programming and content at First Look Media, said: “We’re so glad to be working with Pulse on another urgent and provocative project, and thrilled that Greg’s come aboard to create it.”

News of the 10×60’ series follows Pulse Films’ recent announcement that it is developing a series for HBO, Sky and Cinemax. Titled Gangs of London, the show is being helmed by Gareth Evans and Matt Flannery (both The Raid).

Along with the British Film Institute, the two studios are also collaborating on documentary XY Chelsea, about US Army whistleblower Chelsea Manning.
