The Nordic version of the streaming platform is being launched in partnership with Nordic Entertainment (NENT) Group’s Viafree service, which will now be phased out as a standalone service.

The Nordic launch represents the first time Pluto TV has combined with an existing AVoD in a local market and brings its total global footprint to more than 30 territories.

“This transformative partnership will serve as the framework as we continue to expand Pluto TV throughout Europe and in new continents, including Australia and Africa, bringing this strategic model of free streaming to the world,” said Raffaele Annecchino, president and CEO of international networks, studios and streaming at Paramount.

In addition to exclusive titles from Paramount’s library and Viafree programming, the Swedish version of the service will carry factual shows Svenska Truckers (Swedish Truckers) and Svenska Hollywoodfruar (Swedish Hollywood Wives), while in Denmark it will include FAST channels dedicated to Familien fra Bryggen (The Kesslers) and the local version of MasterChef.

In Norway, Pluto TV will feature FAST channels showing Eventyrlig Oppussing (Amazing Makeovers) and celebrity culinary series Camp Kulinaris.

Pluto TV and NENT Group have also partnered with MTV on an MTV Unplugged performance from Swedish band Mando Diao. The gig will premiere exclusively on Pluto TV’s MTV Unplugged channel in October.

The Nordics launch will also see Pluto TV offering live sports outside of the US for the first time. Events held by mixed martial arts organisation Bellator will stream throughout 2022, many of them live, as well as library and bonus content.

Pluto TV in the Nordics has also partnered with the FIA World Rallycross Championship on a channel that will be available in Denmark and Norway from July 1.
