Peacock picks up Dan Brown’s Langdon

NBCUniversal has ordered thriller Dan Brown’s Langdon to series for its streaming service Peacock, after it picked up a pilot episode for US broadcast network NBC last year.

Susan Rovner

Based on US author Brown’s novel The Lost Symbol, Dan Brown’s Langdon follows the early adventures of Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon, who must solve a series of deadly puzzles to save his kidnapped mentor and thwart a chilling global conspiracy.

The series is produced by CBS Studios, Imagine Television Studios and Universal Television, with Dan Dworkin and Jay Beattie sharing writing duties.

Dworkin and Beattie are also exec producing with Brown, Imagine Entertainment’s founders Brian Grazer and Ron Howard, and Imagine Television’s president Samie Kim Falvey and exec VP Anna Culp.

“The team was blown away by this pilot and its enormous potential to become a big, binge-worthy hit, and our new structure enables us to move it to Peacock and give it every opportunity to make that happen,” said Susan Rovner, chairman of NBCUniversal Television and Streaming.

“Our ability to pick up a great show is no longer limited by the confines of a network schedule, giving us the freedom to say yes to shows we love and then find them the perfect home across our portfolio.”
