OneCoin crypto scam spotlighted by Sky Deutschland, Channel 4

Sky Deutschland and Channel 4 in the UK are on board a three-part docuseries focusing on the OneCoin cryptocurrency scam.

OneCoin was touted as a “Bitcoin killer” and was the brainchild of Bulgarian businesswoman Ruja Ignatova, who became known as the ‘Queen of Crypto’ and plugged her product on stage at Wembley Arena, among other set pieces.

But the whole thing turned out to be a Ponzi scheme and Ignatova disappeared after duping investors out of billions of dollars.

Director Rudolph Herzog is now working on Crypto Queen (working title), a documentary series produced by German prodco Tondowski Films and London-based Dare Pictures, which launched in January.

European production and distribution giant Fremantle is handling international sales of the programme.
