Netflix orders limited series A Man in Full from David E Kelley, Regina King

Netflix has handed a straight-to-series order to limited-run drama A Man in Full.

Showrunner and writer David E Kelley is adapting the 6×60’ project from a New York Times bestselling novel by the late Tom Wolfe. Regina King is directing the first three episodes and executive producing through her Royal Ties Productions banner, which has a first-look deal with Netflix.

The project tells the story of Atlanta real estate mogul Charlie Croker who sees his political and business interests collide when he faces sudden bankruptcy, leaving him to defend his empire from those attempting to capitalise on his fall from grace.

Kelley, whose recent creator credits include HBO’s Big Little Lies and The Undoing, ABC’s Big Sky and Hulu miniseries Nine Perfect Strangers, has two projects in the works with Netflix already: The Lincoln Lawyer and Anatomy of a Scandal.

Last week, Peacock greenlit The Missing, an eight-part crime drama from Kelley, Keshet Studios and Universal Television.

Kelley is executive producing A Man in Full alongside King, whose acting credits include the recently released Netflix original film The Harder they Fall and If Beale Street Could Talk, which earned her an Oscar for best supporting actress.

Also exec producing are Reina King for Royal Ties Productions and Matthew Tinker with David E Kelley Productions.
