Netflix names director of Nordic originals

US-based streaming giant Netflix has appointed Jenny Stjernströmer Björk as its new director of Nordic original series.

Jenny Stjernströmer Björk

Stjernströmer Björk will take up the role from September 1, leading the original series team from Stockholm and reporting to Larry Tanz, VP and head of original series for EMEA.

She succeeds Tesha Crawford, who currently holds the position and is moving to the global franchises team as director of global franchises.

Stjernströmer Björk joins from SF Studios where, for the last five years, she has been chief content officer and worked across divisions on projects including The Cake General, The Sunny Side and The Unthinkable, and forthcoming Burn All My Letters, Margrete and The Emigrants.

Prior to that, she headed the acquisition team at SF Studios, having joined the company in 2014.

With a background in publishing, she started her career in the film industry by identifying books to adapt into films. She then moved to the production company Tre Vänner as head of development.

Netflix has already announced it will open a Stockholm office in the second half of this year to serve as a hub for the region, alongside a small team in Copenhagen.
