McIntyre’s The Wheel spins onto NBC

Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel is made by the host’s prodco Hungry McBear Media

US network NBC has ordered a 10-episode adaptation of UK gameshow format The Wheel, with Warner Bros Unscripted Television and the UK’s Hungry McBear producing.

Hungry McBear, the prodco behind the original version of the format, was set up by comedian Michael McIntyre in collaboration with producer Hungry Bear Media. McIntyre hosts The Wheel on BBC1 in the UK, where it debuted last November.

The show takes place atop a giant spinning wheel, which selects celebrities to help contestants answer questions and win cash prizes.

Warner Bros International Television Production distributes the gameshow, which will join Peyton Manning-produced College Bowl and Weakest Link on NBC’s unscripted slate.

Jenny Groom, executive VP of unscripted content for NBCUniversal TV and streaming, said: “We knew that NBC was the perfect home for The Wheel. We couldn’t be more thrilled to add this to our strong roster of gameshow formats.”
