Maverick’s Dollman comes up to Expectation

The factual arm of Peter Fincham and Tim Hincks’ production shingle Expectation has hired a head of development from All3Media-owned Maverick TV.

Emily Dollman

Emily Dollman is joining the team led by Amy Flanagan and Colin Barr, who joined from Channel 4 and Minnow Films respectively in March last year.

At Maverick, Dollman was head of development for three years, responsible for shows including Inside the Ritz for ITV, Escape for Channel 4 and Bizarre ER for E4.

Her production experience includes working on a broad range of programmes such as The Apprentice, The Voice, The Audience and The Young Ones.

Colin Bar, Expectation Factual’s creative director of factual and factual drama, said: “Emily has all the cross-genre instincts and abilities that a company like Expectation needs. She’s as comfortable with concept as she is editorial and her energy and ambition are the perfect fit. We’re lucky to have her.”

The head of development is a new role which reflects Expectation Factual’s expanding team which also boasts senior executive producers Ruth Kelly and Dominique Foster who joined earlier this year.

Expectation Factual’s recent productions include Trans Kids: It’s Time to Talk, which was broadcast by Channel 4 this week, and Superkids: Breaking Away from Care, which airs on C4 next Wednesday. Meanwhile, it’s six-part series with Jason Atherton for BBC2, The Brigade, was announced recently and is in production alongside eight-part factual series Murder, for BBC2.

Former ITV and BBC1 controller Fincham and former Endemol Shine president Hincks set up Expectation in November 2016 with backing from BBC Worldwide (now BBC Studios).
