Line of Duty S6 picked up around world

L-R: Vicky McClure, Martin Compston and Adrian Dunbar in Line of Duty

International outlets including New Zealand’s TVNZ and Denmark’s DR have picked up the sixth season of hit UK crime drama Line of Duty, the finale of which broke UK viewing records earlier this month.

Chinese streaming app Pumpkin Film has also picked up Line of Duty S6, as have KT Corp in South Korea, Movistar in Spain, NRK in Norway, SVT in Sweden, Finland’s YLE, VRT in Belgium, NPO in the Netherlands and LTV in Latvia.

The latest season of the show, which airs on BBC1 in the UK, will also become available on BBC Studios- and ITV Studios-owned streaming platform BritBox in North America next week.

The series focuses on an anti-corruption unit within a UK police force and stars Vicky McClure, Martin Compston and Adrian Dunbar. Almost 13 million viewers tuned in to the linear broadcast of season six’s final episode on May 2, which the BBC said made it the most watched episode of any drama, excluding soaps, since modern records began in 2002.

Line of Duty began airing on BBC2 in 2012 before moving to BBC1 in 2017 with its fourth season as its popularity increased. Jed Mercurio exec produces and created the series, with London’s World Productions handling production. Ken Horn produced S6, with World’s Simon Heath and BBC1’s Tommy Bulfin exec producing.

ITV Studios, the production and distribution arm of the UK broadcaster, holds global sales rights to the show.
