Lifted Entertainment’s Luke Mcfarlane joins Channel 4 as fact ent commissioning editor

UK commercially funded public broadcaster Channel 4 has appointed Luke Mcfarlane as commissioning editor for factual entertainment, tasked with expanding the department’s reality output.

Luke Mcfarlane

Mcfarlane was most recently an exec producer at ITV Studios label Lifted Entertainment, working on the reboot of Channel 4’s live format The Big Breakfast. Prior to that, he was an exec producer at Fremantle’s Naked TV and a supervising exec at ViacomCBS International Studios UK.

His credits include reality and fact ent formats The Only Way Is Essex, Celebs Go Dating, Britain’s Next Top Model, Life on Marbs, Sexpod and MTV Cribs.

Mcfarlane’s appointment at Channel 4 comes as its fact ent team expands its hunt for young-skewing reality formats. He replaces Becky Cadman who left the broadcaster to join All3Media’s production label Lime Pictures as creative director of formats and talent.

Mcfarlane will report to Alf Lawrie, Channel 4’s head of factual entertainment.
