Legendary restructures under Albrecht

US production company Legendary is combining its domestic and international arms under the management of former Starz CEO Chris Albrecht.

Chris Albrecht

Albrecht stepped down at Starz after nearly a decade with the Lionsgate-owned cablenet in March 2019 and resurfaced at Legendary a year ago to run the firm’s newly formed international arm, Legendary Global, as a co-owner.

The company is now bringing together Legendary Global and its domestic TV businesses, with Albrecht overseeing it all as head of Legendary Television.

The move sees Nick Pepper, president of Legendary Television, segueing to an executive producer role on the projects he had previously been involved in.

Since launch, Legendary Global has paired up with Spanish prodco ESPotlight, launched projects with Jack Thorne and co-financed Hindi drama.

Showrunners Emma Frost and Matthew Graham launched production shingle Watford & Essex with Legendary at the end of 2020.

Series in the works at Legendary Television include the reboot of Lost in Space for Netflix, Carnival Row for Amazon and Pacific Rim: The Black, an anime version of the live-action film for Netflix.

Legendary has also brought in Danny Grover from CAA as head of business affairs for the newly streamlined business.
