Latin American AVoD and SVoD revenues to both grow by $3bn by 2028

Revenue from AVoD platforms in Latin America will grow by the same amount as that of SVoD services between 2022 and 2028, according to UK analysis firm Digital TV Research.

OTT revenue for 19 Latin American countries will increase by US$7bn between 2022 and 2028 to reach US$16bn. AVoD and SVoD will each add US$3bn over the period.

SVoD will remain the region’s largest OTT revenue source, however, contributing US$9.7bn by 2028 – double the AVoD total.

Brazil and Mexico combined will provide 64% of the region’s revenue in 2028, with Brazil adding US$2.9bn and Mexico US$1.6bn.

By platform, Netflix will remain on top with US$4.4bn in revenue by 2028, followed by Disney+ at US$2.7bn, HBO and Globoplay at US$1.2bn and Paramount+ at US$1.1bn. Other platforms combined will make US$5.2bn in revenue by 2028.

Simon Murray, principal analyst at Digital TV Research, said: “Five platforms will account for two-thirds of the region’s OTT revenues by 2028. We expect that Netflix, Disney+, HBO and Paramount will all start hybrid AVoD-SVoD platforms in the short term. AVoD will significantly boost revenues for these platforms as SVoD growth falters.”
