Lat Am streaming operator start-up Tribes Media hires former Disney, Fox execs

Latin American start-up Tribes Media, which operates streaming services Glitch, Myst and Selego, has hired former Disney and Fox executives to manage the company.

Ignacio Landeta

Tribes Media was founded by Roberto Soto, whose career includes roles at Liberty Global, WarnerMedia, Fox International Channels, ViacomCBS and MUBI. The company reaches more than 45 countries in the Lat Am region via its Myst, Glitch and Selego SVoD services, which showcase movies, series, short films, podcasts and audiobooks.

Myst’s content offering spans the suspense, horror, fantasy, sci-fi, thriller, mystery and crime genres, while Glitch focuses on adult animation and Selego offers a range of content in the independent, cult and inclusive cinema genres, as well as covering LGBTQ+ themes and Latino and European cinema.

As part of the company’s international expansion, Tribes Media has hired Ignacio Landeta as CEO, Gustavo Otero as chief financial officer and Dominique Recordon to lead the marketing and content team for the three brands.

Gustavo Otero

Landeta, who helped co-found Tribes Media, has over 18 years’ experience in the content distribution industry in Latin America, having worked at companies including The Walt Disney Company, Fox Networks Group, Liberty Global and Telmex. At Disney and Fox, he was head of content distribution in several Lat Am countries.

Otero has more than 20 years’ experience in financial management, in roles including senior VP of finance at Fox Networks Group Latin America.

Recordon has over 12 years’ experience in marketing, commercial and product areas in the entertainment industry, having previously led the marketing strategy and managing teams in the digital content subscription businesses at Fox Networks Group and The Walt Disney Company Latin America.

Dominique Recordon

“We are experiencing a concentration of content from streaming subscription services, which is why we saw the need, and a great opportunity in the international market, to make a space for the distribution of carefully curated niche content, where both fans and communities can find everything they like in one place,” said Landeta.

“Our brands have immense potential and the increase in subscribers of Glitch, Myst and Selego in recent months demonstrates this.”
