Going from Broke, a 10×30′ series from Matador Content and Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment (CSSE), aims to tackle head-on the issue of the US’s growing student debt pile by helping graduates to overcome their financial struggles.

It will see host Dan Rosenweig, CEO of educational tech company Chegg, and financial expert Danetha Doe provide one-on-one advice to young people living in LA, encouraging them to change their habits and gain financial confidence.

Actor and producer Kutcher is exec producing the series with William J Rouhana Jr and Michael Winter for CSSE. Exec producing for Matador are Todd Lubin, Jay Peterson, Joel Relampagos and Jerry Carita. The show will premiere on Crackle next month.

Rosenweig said: “The student debt crisis in America is devastating to young people and their families. We need real solutions, in real time, to end the vicious cycle of debt and get hardworking young people on the road to financial freedom. My hope is that the stories in this show shine a light on the crippling impact debt and financial instability has on our kids, our future workforce and our economy.”

Crackle is one of seven AVoD platforms that make up Crackle Plus, a joint venture between Sony Pictures Television and CSSE. It came about after Sony sold a majority stake in its Crackle on-demand business to CCSE earlier this year.
