Kudos alum Santer named BritBox CCO

ITV and BBC Studios’ SVoD joint venture BritBox has appointed former Kudos Film & Television CEO Diederick Santer to the new role of BritBox International chief creative officer.

Santer will join BritBox in September and will oversee all aspects of programming on the service globally, including commissioning and acquisition across all genres and for all markets outside of the UK.

Previously CEO of UK drama production company Kudos, his credits include Channel 4 and AMC returner Humans, Man in an Orange Shirt, Apple Tree Yard and Gunpowder for BBC1, BBC2’s The Boy With The Topknot and Sky Atlantic hit Tin Star.

He began his TV career in 1996 at ITV, joining the BBC in 2000 and becoming executive producer of soap EastEnders in 2006. He has recently worked in BBC drama commissioning overseeing a number of 2021 titles and previously set up his own production company, Lovely Day, a label within Kudos, which produced crime series Grantchester.

Santer will be part of the BritBox International leadership team, working under BritBox International CEO Reemah Sakaan.

BritBox launched as an ad-free streaming service in March 2017 and has since rolled out to Canada, the UK and Australia and is due to launch in South Africa this summer.
