ITV, Eagle Eye prep Professor T for UK

UK broadcaster ITV has commissioned a crime drama based on Belgian series Professor T from newly formed prodco Eagle Eye Drama.

Starring Ben Miller (Death in Paradise, Johnny English) and Frances de la Tour (Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire, The History Boys), Professor T is the first original drama commission for Eagle Eye, which was launched late last year by the team behind foreign-language drama platform Walter Presents.

The six-part series is based on the Belgian show of the same name and will be directed by Belgium’s Indra Siera. Set at Cambridge University in the UK, it will be filmed in both Cambridge and Belgium this summer.

PBS Distribution holds the North American rights to the series, while Beta Film will distribute it worldwide.

Executive producer and Eagle Eye Drama CEO Walter Iuzzolino said: “Professor T is my all-time favourite detective – a tortured genius wrestling with a mystery childhood trauma. It’s a unique crime series with a core of wonderful warm characters at its heart and I am delighted to be working with our hand-picked European production team to make this for ITV and international audiences.”
