HBO Max boards C4 chimp doc

Lucy the Human Chimp

WarnerMedia-owned US streamer HBO Max has boarded a documentary about a chimpanzee raised as a human.

Produced by Keo Films for UK commercial broadcaster Channel 4, Lucy the Human Chimp follows the friendship between Lucy and student Janis Carter, who released the ape in Africa only to end up living with her in the wild for six years due to their unbreakable bond.

Sarah Tong, director of sales at Hat Trick International, which is distributing the 1×90’ doc, said: “This is a fascinating and emotional insight into a shocking social experiment. Janis has waited 40 years to tell her story and we are delighted to have secured the involvement of HBO Max, which will ensure this unique event can finally be shared throughout the world.”
