Global OTT revenues tipped to increase by $89bn over next six years

Global revenues from series and features on OTT platforms will grow by US$89bn between 2021 and 2027, with the US accounting for 45% of all income by the end of that period, according to UK firm Digital TV Research.

The company’s latest research forecasts that global revenues from OTT will reach US$224bn by 2027, up from US$135bn in 2021, while an additional US$21bn will be generated in 2022 alone.

SVoD profits are expected to jump the most, climbing by US$48bn between 2021 and 2027 to a total of US$136bn. AVoD revenues are tipped to increase by US$37bn during the same period to reach US$70bn.

From the 138 countries covered, the top five are forecast to command 65% of global OTT revenues by 2027, with 25 countries exceeding US$1bn in OTT revenues by 2027, an increase from 17 countries in 2021.

The US will have the lion’s share of global profit, with the report predicting it will command 45% of global revenues by 2027. Overall, the country’s profits are expected to rise by US$45bn between 2021 and 2027 to reach US$106bn.
