Gaumont, About Entertainment forge dev deal for series and feature films

France- and LA-based producer Gaumont and Armando Bó’s About Entertainment have signed a deal to develop series and feature films across multiple genres and languages.

Gaumont (Narcos) and About Entertainment currently coproduce Amazon Prime Video’s Latin American comedy-drama series El Presidente, along with Argentina’s Kapow and Chilean production company Fabula.

Bó, who launched About Entertainment last year, serves as exec producer, writer, director and showrunner on the series and is also known for co-writing Oscar-winning film Birdman.

Among the first projects to be developed under Gaumont and About Entertainment’s deal is a satire on the creation of the nation of Panama, Panama Canal and the American tycoons and other foreign empresarios who concocted the plan to annex the territory from Colombia.

Bó added: “We began this process to join forces with the aim of developing stories that have a different point of view regardless of what language they are made in.”
