Frankie Boyle stands up for BBC2

Frankie Boyle Live: Excited for You to See & Hate This

BBC2 in the UK has ordered a one-off follow-up to its comedy travelogue series Frankie Boyle’s Tour of Scotland.

Frankie Boyle Live: Excited for You to See & Hate This is produced by Scottish indie Two Rivers Media, which was previously owned by the now-collapsed Canadian outfit Kew Media.

The 1×45’ show is a follow up to the Tour of Scotland four-parter and features the comedian’s final show in Glasgow.

During the set, Boyle examines Glasgow’s relationship with swearing and vitamins, talks about the nature of controversy and comedy and turns his unflinching eye on Britain’s politics.

Mick McAvoy, head of factual at Two Rivers, said: “Frankie Boyle’s Tour of Scotland saw Frankie get under the skin of his home country as he travelled its length and breadth, and we were delighted with the reception it received.

“As a pre-Covid production, we were able to garner lots of compelling material. So, we saw an opportunity to approach BBC2 about the possibility of creating a follow-up show from the material we shot. We have a range of productions on the go at the moment and we are delighted to be able to continue delivering productions in these challenging times.”

The show was commissioned by Hamish Fergusson, commissioning editor for documentaries, for BBC2. It is exec produced by McAvoy and Nicky Waltham, directed by Graeme Hart and produced by Kirsty Macfarlane.
