Florian Zeller’s Blue Morning Pictures to adapt The Lehman Trilogy for TV

L-R: Florian Zeller, Domenico Procacci and Lorenzo Mieli

Academy Award-winning filmmaker Florian Zeller is joining forces with Fremantle-owned The Apartment Pictures and Rome’s Fandango on a series adaptation of Stefano Massini’s play The Lehman Trilogy.

Zeller, Apartment Pictures’ Lorenzo Mieli and Fandango’s Domenico Procacci will direct, write and coproduce playwright Stefano Massini’s work.

The series is Zeller’s first project since launching production company Blue Morning Pictures with France’s Mediawan and industry veteran Federica Sainte-Rose.

It comes on the heels of the premiere of Zeller’s most recent film, The Son, starring Hugh Jackman, Laura Dern and Vanessa Kirby, at the 79th Venice Film Festival.

After an award-winning career as a playwright, Zeller adapted and directed his first film, The Father, based on his play of the same name, starring Anthony Hopkins and Olivia Colman.

The series will be exec produced by Mieli and Procacci, who will join forces again following the success of the series My Brilliant Friend, based on the Elena Ferrante novels.

Sainte-Rose and Lorenzo De Maio of De Maio Entertainment were instrumental in bringing the partnership together and will exec produce.

Massini’s five-hour play charts the history of one of the global financial institutions that helped spark the 2008 recession.
