Eureka, Talpa taking Dutch quizshow format The Floor to US market

LA- and Sydney-based production company Eureka Productions is teaming up with John de Mol’s Dutch content company Talpa to develop and shop a US adaptation of the fast-paced quizshow The Floor.

Commissioned originally by RTL in the Netherlands and distributed by Talpa, the show sees 100 contestants squaring off in quiz duels on a giant LED floor divided into 100 squares. After 10 episodes, the last remaining contestant wins US$1m.

The partnership marks the latest collaboration between Eureka and Netherlands-based Talpa, after it was announced that Eureka is producing Talpa’s survival adventure format Million Dollar Island for Australia’s Seven Network. The Australian version is set to debut next year.

Eureka’s slate also includes a US remake of The Mole, which will launch soon on Netflix, and an American version of the Fremantle-owned format Farmer Wants a Wife for Fox. Eureka also produces the Australian iteration of the latter format.

Other upcoming titles for the company include a remake of dating competition series The Real Love Boat for CBS in the US and Network Ten in Australia.

Eureka has expanded both its American and Australian business over the past 12 months. The company, which is led by Chris Culvenor and Paul Franklin, earlier in the year took on the development and production of Fremantle’s entertainment, reality and gameshow formats in Australia.
