Through the multi-year deal, eOne will adapt Canadaland’s podcasts into both scripted and non-s

cripted television projects, limited series and docs.

All projects adapted under the deal will be coproduced by eOne and Canadaland, with eOne serving as the studio and global distributor.

eOne has previously collaborated with Canadaland and Anishinaabe journalist and writer Ryan McMahon on Thunder Bay, an original docuseries for Bell Media-owned streaming service Crave based on the podcast of the same name. The podcast network was founded by Jesse Brown in 2013.

Aside from Thunder Bay, other podcasts produced under the Canadaland umbrella include White Saviors, which explores corruption within one of Canada’s most prominent charities; Cool Mules, about a cocaine-smuggling ring led by former Vice Media editor Slava P; political podcast The Backbench; and Ratfucker, about a political fixer and dirty tricks operative.

“Partnering with a dynamic podcast network like Canadaland allows us access to an array of fascinating stories,” said Jocelyn Hamilton, president for Canada at eOne Television.

“By leaning into the podcast to broadcast approach, we’re broadening our search in finding more incredible and thought-provoking content.”
