Eccho Rights expands into Turkey

Scandinavian distributor Eccho Rights is expanding its business into Turkey to further its focus on the drama market there.

The company, part of the Sparks Eccho Group of drama and factual producers and distributors, is opening a new hub in Istanbul. The venture will be led by sales and acquisitions manager Handan Özkubat, an experienced Turkish television executive who most recently spent two-and-a-half years in the same role at Image Media.

Eccho has added a slew of Turkish drama titles to its catalogue in recent times, including Karadayi and The End. Another series, Ezel, has already been sold into 70 territories worldwide.

Fredrik af Malmborg, MD at Eccho Rights, said: “Eccho Rights saw the potential in Turkish drama early on and we worked hard to position the company as a worldwide distributor of the genre. The next logical step is to have a permanent presence in Istanbul in order to deepen our relationship with producers and broadcasters within the country.”

Sister company to format distributor Sparks Network, Eccho Rights is based in Stockholm, Sweden and has an Asia Pacific office in Hong Kong.
