Ebony Life stocks up with Passion

Fledgling network Ebony Life is among the African broadcasters taking factual and reality programming from UK-based Passion Distribution.

Ebony Life is currently rolling out across Sub-Saharan Africa and has added Life With La Toya (10×30′) to its initial slate. The reality series, produced by World of Wonder for OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network in the US, follows the highs and lows of La Toya Jackson. Another OWN show, Addicted to Food (8×60′) from Tijuana Entertainment, has also been picked up.

The channel has also taken two Game Show Network series: the sixth season (65×30′) of The Newlywed Game, produced by Embassy Row, and Love Triangle (32×30′), from 3 Ball Productions.

In related news, the African Business Channel has taken season four of Cowboy Trap (30×30′), produced by Passion’s Tinopolis stablemate Mentorn Media for the BBC.

Also included in the deal are season three of Dear Genevieve (13×30′), from Leopard Films for HGTV, and the fourth season of Wasted Spaces (13×30′), from Rivr Media for the DIY Network.

Meanwhile, the first three seasons of Dynamo: Mission Impossible (12×60′) have gone to Viasat in Ghana and NTV in Kenya.

Independent distributor Seed Entertainment has acquired a host of Passion titles to sell in Africa’s free-to-air market, including comedy series Life’s Too Short, from Backlash Productions for HBO and the BBC, and Mentorn Media documentary Murder on Honeymoon (1×60′).
