Douglas Bensimon and Edward Mejia have been promoted to VPs of current series at Disney Television Animation, the animation studio sitting under Disney Branded Television.

The pair will continue to report to Disney Television Animation senior VP of current series Khaki Jones.

The studio currently has 1,200 half-hours of animated content in production for Disney’s streaming and linear platforms.

Within Disney Television Animation, Bensimon leads a team focusing primarily on serialised projects for Disney+ and Disney Channel. He also works closely with Marvel on its branded content for kids aged six to 14 and families.

Bensimon, who was previously executive director of current series, started his career at Disney Television Animation. He has steered series including the upcoming Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur for Disney+, as well as The Ghost & Molly McGee and Amphibia for Disney Channel.

Meanwhile, Mejia leads a team focused on Disney Television Animation titles inspired by Disney heritage characters and stories for Disney+ and Disney Channel. He started his career at Disney in 2005 and climbed the ladder to executive director of current series before his latest promotion. He has overseen titles such as Monsters at Work for Disney+ and the upcoming Disney Channel shows Kiff and Primos.

Meredith Roberts, executive VP of TV animation, Disney Branded Television, said: “One of our guiding principles is to prepare high-potential team members for greater levels of responsibility and to recognise the contributions of innovative, diverse, ready-to-lead executives.

“As a result of their sheer talent, solid experience and Khaki’s mentorship, Edward and Doug are highly skilled in imaginative, visual story-based work, and each has a deep appreciation for our brands and a trusted rapport with content creators that helps us achieve our goals.”
