Crackle adds NBCU content

US online video service Crackle is building up its content library after agreeing a multi-year deal with NBCUniversal (NBCU) Television and New Media Distribution.

The licensing arrangement will see Crackle gain exclusive ad-supported VoD rights to a range of NBCU films including Jarhead, Miami Vice and Ray.

Philip Lynch, senior VP of digital networks and games for Sony Pictures Television (SPT), said the deal would complement Crackle’s “original programming and reinforces our commitment to provide viewers with even more streaming choices.”

More than 140 NBCU titles will be rolled out on the SPT-owned service, which offers acquired series and original programming, over the next three years.

Crackle is available in 21 countries including Australia, Canada and Latin American territories. The service had also been available in the UK until March, when SPT closed it down.
