Constantin Film links with Frank Spotnitz’s Big Light for Nuremberg Trials drama

Frank Spotnitz and Oliver Berben

Germany’s Constantin Film is partnering with Frank Spotnitz’s US-based Big Light Productions to develop a TV drama about the Nuremberg Trials.

The project will explore the prosecution of Nazis in the wake of the Second World War, examining figures from both sides of the trials.

Munich-based Constantin Film has produced a number of projects exploring similar themes and subject matter, including its 2004 feature film Downfall, which zeroed in on the final hours and collapse of the Nazi regime, and this year’s feature The Conference, about a meeting that was part of planning the Holocaust.

The series will be executive produced by Constantin Film’s Oliver Berben and Robert Kulzer alongside Big Light’s Spotnitz and Emily Feller. Ron Maxwell and Northside Services’ Jeff Berg also exec produce.

Big Light’s TV credits include The Man in the High Castle for Amazon, Medici: The Magnificent and Medici: Masters of Florence for Rai and Netflix, Ransom for CBS and Global and Hunted for BBC and HBO.

Meanwhile, Constantin, which has significantly grown its TV business in recent years, has produced shows such as Black Beauty for Disney+ and Perfume for Germany’s ZDFneo and Netflix.
