China finds its Voice

Chinese station Zhejiang TV is moving ahead with a local version of Talpa talent show The Voice.

Talpa is coproducing a Chinese version of the format with IPCN and Star China, producers of Chinese versions of Dancing with the Stars and China’s Got Talent.

Zhejiang is based in Eastern China and reaches an audience of 300 million people across the country. It will air The Voice later this year.

The Voice originally premiered in Holland before the format was picked up by NBC in the US.

The BBC in the UK recently began airing a British version of the show and local productions have also run on TF1 in France and Nine in Australia. So far, the format has been commissioned by 45 broadcasters on air in 140 territories globally.

Talpa formats that have previously been remade in China include I Love My Country, which airs on Hubei TV as I Love China, plus Sing It and Dating In The Dark.
