Channel 4 swears in Surjury

The Surjury will be fronted by Caroline Flack

UK broadcaster Channel 4 has commissioned a factual entertainment series from indie prodco Gobstopper Television in which a jury decides if someone should get plastic surgery.

In The Surjury (working title), a jury of 12 members of the public will vote on whether individuals should go under the knife for the cosmetic surgery of their dreams. If the surgery goes ahead, candidates are then invited back to show off the results. Love Island presenter Caroline Flack will host.

“To many, cosmetic surgery can seem like a quick fix to a problem,” said Becky Cadman, factual entertainment commissioning editor at Channel 4. “But with Caroline and the Jury’s help, this new series looks at who wants it and why – allowing those who make a strong enough case to their peers to undergo the procedure of their choice.

“The show will neither glamorise nor condemn their choices; the aim is instead to interrogate the realities.”
