CBS scores a second Equalizer

The Equalizer with Queen Latifah debuted in February

ViacomCBS-owned US network CBS has renewed its reboot of drama series The Equalizer, starring Queen Latifah, for a second season.

The Equalizer is a remake of the 1985 series starring Edward Woodward that ran on CBS for four seasons. The reboot stars Queen Latifah as Robyn McCall, a retired CIA agent who relives her old career by helping the less fortunate.

The show premiered on February 7 and was the most watched series debut so far this season with 23.8 million views.

Andrew Marlowe, Terri Miller, Dana Owens (Queen Latifah), John Davis, John Fox, Debra Martin Chase and Shakim Compere are executive producers for Universal Television, in association with CBS Studios.

The channel also recently renewed comedy series The Neighborhood and Bob Hearts Abishola.
