CBC set to end police comedy Pretty Hard Cases after three seasons

Cameron Pictures’ comedic police series Pretty Hard Cases

Canadian public broadcaster CBC is cancelling its comedic police procedural series Pretty Hard Cases after three seasons.

The Toronto-set show, led by Meredith MacNeill (Baroness von Sketch Show) and Adrienne C Moore (Orange is the New Black), is currently in the middle of its third season.

The show is produced by Cameron Pictures in association with CBC and Universal International Studios and was created by Tassie Cameron (Mary Kills People, Rookie Blue) and Sherry White (Little Dog, Frontier).

The show had sold well internationally, with Amazon Freevee carrying it in the US and UKTV’s Alibi in the UK. NBCUniversal Global Distribution also recently inked a deal that saw the series sold to TV3 Group in the Baltics.

“Pretty Hard Cases reimagined the police procedural with timely storylines, a distinct sense of humour and a refreshingly authentic take on female friendship,” said CBC in a statement.

“While we have made the difficult decision not to renew the series, we want to thank Tassie Cameron, Sherry White, Amy Cameron, Meredith MacNeill, Adrienne C Moore and the entire cast and crew for three wonderful seasons,” said Sally Catto, general manager of entertainment, factual and sports at CBC.
