Montreal-based producer and distributor KOTV has hired CBC & Radio-Canada Distribution executive Mia Desroches as its VP of international distribution.

In the newly created role, Desroches, who was formerly the director of content distribution partnerships at CBC & Radio-Canada Distribution, will be tasked with expanding KOTV’s international distribution business.

KOTV’s executive VP and director general Louis-Philippe Drolet said the appointment “aligns perfectly with our continued ambitions outside of Quebec, and she possesses the experience and expertise to take on the direction of our distribution team and contribute to our global reach.”

Prior to joining CBC & Radio-Canada Distribution, Desroches was with the National Film Board of Canada for 12 years, serving in several roles including director of distribution. Her other prior roles include VP of distribution at Quebec-based producer Téléfiction.

KOTV’s formats have found international success in recent years. Last year, KOTV’s anthology drama series Plan B was adapted and broadcast by TF1 in France. The show was also adapted for Flemish Belgium in March 2021, with a second season now in the works.

Other recent adaptations of KOTV shows include a Lebanese version of variety show Le Verdict, a Latvian version of musical variety show C’est ma toune and an English-language version of Entre deux draps, which was adapted by Bell Media-owned streamer Crave.
