CBBC picks up second series of Clifford

In the UK, children's channel CBBC has acquired the second series of Scholastic Entertainment's Clifford the Big Red Dog, taking the channel's total number of episodes to 130×15'.

Following the premier of Clifford in April on CBBC's pre-school digital channel CBeebies, the second series will be aired later this year.

Based on the books by Norman Bridwell, the TV series recounts the adventures of Clifford and his human friend Emily Elizabeth. The TV series is produced by Scholastic Entertainment and distributed by TV-Loonland. Entertainment Rights handles merchandise and video distribution.

In the US, PBS airs the Daytime Emmy-award winning show on PBS Kids. TVP (Poland) has also picked up 40 episodes of the toon.

A product range featuring the crimson canine will roll out this month, with the launch of four storybooks and two activity books from Scholastic. Plush Toys from Character Options will also be available from Argos, Index, Mothercare, Toys R Us and Woolworths. A video will also be launched in September.
