C More calls up Nokia drama

Mobile 1.0 will be available on C More early next year

Nordic streamer C More has taken first-window on-demand rights in the Nordics and Baltics to a new Finnish drama charting the rise and fall of mobile phone manufacturer Nokia.

Finnish prodco Rabbit Films has begun production on six-part series Mobile 1.0. The show will be available in both English and Finnish and shot in Finland and the US.

The series, which will launch early next year on C More, will also have a linear premiere on local channel MTV3. Rabbit holds international distribution rights.

Season one of the show will focus on the years 1988-90 when mobile phones were just coming on to the scene.

The series is written and directed by Maarit Lalli and produced by Tina Pesonen and Finnish actress Minna Haapkylä for Rabbit Films. Haapkylä is also head of scripted content at Rabbit.

Petri Kemppinen and Ari Tolppanen are coproducers for Aurora Studios, which has come onboard the show through the Finnish Impact Film Fund, its private equity fund launched at the end of March.
