Bunim/Murray, Kreativ Inc put Photoshop skills to the test in first Reddit original

Reddit is dipping its toe into the original content space with a comedy competition series produced by Bunim/Murray Productions and Kreativ Inc.

Reddit, the social news aggregation site and discussion forum, will air the daily livestream series, PhotoshopBattles Live, over the course of five days, with contestants participating in photo-editing battles against other Reddit users.

The r/photoshopbattles Reddit community page has more than 17 million members and has been active for 10 years.

US computer software company Adobe is also a partner on the project, which is hosted by American actress and comedian Patti Harrison, who stars in Hulu’s Shrill.

PhotoshopBattles Live will also feature a variety of actor and comedian guests, including Kate Flannery (The Office), Trixie Mattel (RuPaul’s Drag Race), Kal Penn (Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle), Kel Mitchell (Kenan & Kel), Will Sasso (Mad TV), Maz Jobrani (Friday After Next), Michael Ian Black (Wet Hot American Summer), Esther Povitsky (New Girl) and DJ Douggpound (Doug Lussenhop).

Keeping Up with the Kardashians prodco Bunim/Murray is producing the project alongside content agency Shareability, with Joel Karsberg and Jesse Daniels from Kreativ Inc serving as executive producers. Unscripted production company Kreativ Inc was formed in 2017 in partnership with Banijay-owned Bunim/Murray.

“Reddit users contribute more than 110,000 original artworks on the platform every month and r/photoshopbattles is one of our most vibrant examples of a community coming together to create and collaborate over a shared passion, which is what our platform is all about,” said Reddit chief marketing officer Roxy Young.

“PsBattles Live is not only a celebration of one of our most beloved Reddit communities, it is the latest immersive experience from our longstanding partners at Adobe, and I am so excited to watch the production come to life over what will no doubt be five days of laughter, creativity and good-hearted competition.”
