BBCWW lines up new indie investments

The BBC’s commercial arm, BBC Worldwide (BBCWW), is in advanced talks about taking a minority equity stake in two new UK indies.

One of the indies will be headed by Tiger Aspect’s former head of entertainment, Clive Tulloh, while the other will be led by Kudos’ former joint MD, Simon Crawford-Collins, a BBCWW spokeswoman confirmed.

The corporation said the talks were part of its ongoing strategy to “secure new content for distribution whilst supporting the UK independent production industry.”

“We are excited about this opportunity to work with two exceptionally talented TV executives and look forward to sharing more information in the coming weeks,” the spokeswoman added.

BBCWW portfolio of indie interests includes stakes in Canada’s Temple Street Productions, Australia’s Freehand Productions and the UK’s Left Bank, Baby Cow and Sprout.
