Originally commissioned by US cable network Epix, Pennyworth will now be made available on HBO Max in 2022. It focuses on the man destined to become Batman’s butler, Alfred Pennyworth.

In the show, Alfred (Jack Bannon) is a former SAS soldier who forms a security company in 1960s London and goes to work with young billionaire Thomas Wayne (Ben Aldridge).

Like Batman, Pennyworth is part of the DC Comics universe. It features supporting cast members including Emma Paetz, Paloma Faith, Ryan Fletcher, Dorothy Atkinson, Ramon Tikaram, Harriet Slater and Simon Manyonda.

The 10-part psychological thriller is produced by Warner Bros Television and executive produced by Bruno Heller, Matthew Patnick, Danny Cannon and John Stephens. The series is produced in the UK at Warner Bros Studios Leavesden.
