Apple TV+ invites Eva the Owlet, Frog & Toad and Jane to kids and family slate

Eva the Owlet is based on Rebecca Elliott’s Owl Diaries books

Apple TV+ has commissioned three series for its 2023 kids and family slate, titled Eva the Owlet, Frog & Toad and Jane.

Premiering on March 31, Eva the Owlet is an animated series based on Rebecca Elliott’s Owl Diaries books about the adventures of a little owl and her best friend.

The series is produced by Scholastic Entertainment, with production services and 4K animation by 9 Story Media’s Brown Bag Films in Ireland. It will also feature original songs.

Exec producing are Scholastic Entertainment’s president Iole Lucchese, VP of TV development Jeff Kaminsky and senior VP and general manager Caitlin Friedman. Head series writers Annabeth Bondor-Stone and Connor White are co-exec producers, while Damien O’Connor is supervising director.

Premiering on April 14, Jane is a 10-part live-action/CGI blended series inspired by the work of British primatologist Dr Jane Goodall.

Created by Sinking Ship Entertainment’s co-founder JJ Johnson, the series centres on a nine-year-old budding environmentalist called Jane on a quest to save endangered animals. Johnson exec produces with his Sinking Ship co-founder Blair Powers and Christin Simms. Andria Teather exec produces for the Jane Goodall Institute.

Premiering on April 28, Frog & Toad is an animated series based on Arnold Lobels books of the same name about two best friends who have a lot in common but are also very different.

Rob Hoegee serves as showrunner for the series, with animation produced by Titmouse. Hoegee also exec produces alongside Adrianne Lobel, Adam Lobel and Titmouse’s president Chris Prynoski, VP Shannon Prynoski, senior VP and chief commercial officer Antonio Canobbio and chief operating officer Ben Kalina.

Also coming up on Apple TV+’s kids and family slate for 2023 are second seasons of Pinecone & Pony, Pretzel & the Puppies and Harriet the Spy, as well as season three and new shorts of Stillwater.
