Apple+ revisits Mosquito Coast

The Mosquito Coast is based on the novel by Paul Theroux

US tech giant Apple has renewed original drama series The Mosquito Coast for a second season for its global streaming service Apple TV+.

The finale of the first season drops on Apple TV+ tomorrow and European production group Fremantle has been given the green light for a second run.

The series stars Justin Theroux, Melissa George, Logan Polish and Gabriel Bateman and follows the dangerous journey of a radical idealist and brilliant inventor who uproots his family to head for Mexico, when they suddenly find themselves on the run from the US government.

The series was created for television and exec produced by Neil Cross and is based on the best-selling book by Paul Theroux, uncle of Justin, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.

The exec producers include the author, Justin Theroux, Rupert Wyatt and Edward L McDonnell. Alan Gasmer, Peter Jaysen and Bob Bookman are exec producers for Veritas Entertainment Group.
