Two of AMC’s most senior scripted executives, Emma Miller and Carrie Gillogly, have left the US cablenet to join Netflix.

Miller, who was senior VP of development at AMC Networks, has joined the streaming giant as director, overall deals, series for the US and Canada. She will report to Nne Ebong, VP, overall deals, series.

Meanwhile, Gillogly, who was the senior VP of programming at AMC Networks, has been named Netflix’s director of drama series for the US and Canada. She will report to VP of drama series Jinny Howe.

Miller and Gillogly had been with AMC for 11 and nine years, respectively, and in 2020 were promoted to jointly lead the cablenet’s scripted team.

Both reported to exec VP of scripted Ben Davis, who will continue to head the scripted division, which sits under Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios.

AMC Networks’ current slate of shows includes two instalments of its Anne Rice gothic franchise, Interview with the Vampire and Mayfair Witches. A third show is currently in development.

Like almost all other content-focused media companies, AMC Networks has made cuts to its slate over the last eight months. In February, it revealed plans to reduce its content spending by almost 20% from US$1.35bn in 2022 to US$1.1bn this year.
