Amazon Prime Video picks up Premier League docuseries backed by Beckham

David Beckham appears in Fever Pitch! The Rise of the Premier League

US tech giant Amazon has acquired forthcoming BBC2 documentary series Fever Pitch! The Rise of the Premier League for its Prime Video service in Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

The 4×60’ doc is being produced by All3Media-backed Story Films and David Beckham’s Studio 99 for BBC2 in the UK and charts the creation of English football’s Premier League in the early 1990s and its subsequent explosion in popularity, commercialism and wealth.

The series has also been picked up by RTL for Germany and German-speaking Europe, Telefonica for Spain and DR in Denmark, NRK in Norway, SVT in Sweden and YLE in Finland for Nordic regions.

Discovery+ has acquired the series for India, whilst WATCHA will be the exclusive home for the series in South Korea.

Further deals in Asia, Middle East, Africa and the Americas are under discussion with the show’s distributor All3Media International.

The doc focuses on individual stories told first-hand by famous figures including footballers Beckham, Eric Cantona, Vinnie Jones and Alan Shearer.
