Amazon examines The Peripheral

Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy of Kilter Films

Global streamer Amazon has greenlit original sci-fi drama The Peripheral, based on the novel by William Gibson.

The series, for its Prime Video service, will be produced by Amazon Studios and Warner Bros Television in association with Kilter Films.

Westworld creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, who run Kilter Films, will executive produce the series.

Other executive producers include creator and showrunner Scott B Smith, Vincenzo Natali, Athena Wickham and Steven Hoban.

The Peripheral, set in the near future, tells the story of Flynne Fisher, a woman in backwater USA who is trying to hold her broken family together. The story presents multiple futures for Fisher after an apocalyptic event takes place.

“Thirty-five years ago, William Gibson invented the future. With The Peripheral, he brings us another look and his vision is as clear, intoxicating and terrifying as ever,” said Nolan and Joy.
