New Metric captures Killjoys producer

Canadian prodco New Metric Media has hired a former Boatrocker Media development exec as its first director of development.

Beth Iley

Beth Iley joins the producer of noted sitcom Letterkenny, which was recently picked up by US streamer Hulu, as the company aims to ramp up its premium drama development.

Iley was most recently the producer of sci-fi adventure series Killjoys, a copro between Canadian network Space and Syfy in the US. She was part of the team that developed the show, which is due to enter its fifth and final season in 2019.

Before that, she spent five years on the scripted team at Boatrocker Media’s Temple Street Productions, where she was key to guiding projects through production for broadcasters the CBC, Rogers, Bell Media, Shaw, BBC America, NBCUniversal and ABC.

Iley will work alongside New Metric Media VP of development Caroline Habib, who joined in December 2017, in expanding the company’s drama slate.

“It goes without saying that we are making a huge investment in hiring superior talent to strengthen our high-end, cinematic-quality TV drama output,” said Mark Montefiore, president of New Metric Media. “Beth’s incredible experience will support New Metric Media as we strive towards producing exceptional dramas that share captivating Canadian stories.”

In addition to Iley and Habib’s appointments, New Metric recently hired Alex Lalonde from Toronto producer Digital Howard for a new role overseeing the company’s operations.
