Nevision pairs with Hinterland scribe

The BBC and S4C’s Welsh police crime drama Hinterland

London-based indie producer Nevision has signed a development deal with Jeff Murphy, writer of the BBC and S4C’s crime drama coproduction Hinterland.

Together Nevision and Murphy will exclusively develop high-end scripted projects for the global marketplace.

Working with Nevision’s creative director of scripted, Neil Zeiger, Murphy will work on his own original ideas and also help to develop Nevision’s slate of feature film and scripted TV series.

Two projects to emerge from the new partnership so far are scripted series The Furies, part supernatural thriller, part police procedural and part eco-horror co-created by Hidden creator and showrunner Mark Andrew; and family movie Moifaa, which tells the true story of New Zealand’s first sporting hero.

Both projects are being developed in association with New Zealand-based production company Pukeko Pictures.

Also in development with Murphy is Saul (working title), a series that throws together a reluctant mother and her estranged son on a journey of discovery that crosses Europe from the South of France to North Wales.

Murphy has credits across a range of feature film and television projects. He won a screenwriting Bafta for Hinterland and his feature film Justine has just been nominated for a British Independent Film Award.

His feature film Denmark, starring Rafe Spall, was released in 2019 and he was writer and producer on TV crime drama Hidden for S4C.
