Nat Geo gets Inside North Korea’s Dynasty

Inside North Korea’s Dynasty explores the secretive lives of North Korea’s ruling Kim family

US cablenet National Geographic has prepared a four-part documentary exploring the secretive lives of North Korea’s ruling Kim family.

Inside North Korea’s Dynasty has taking a year to put together and goes back more than 70 years to examine the history of the world’s only communist dynasty – through archival footage, first-hand testimony, and surreptitious audio recordings.

The documentary, which will be aired over consecutive Sundays beginning November 11, is produced by London-based 72 Films (Elizabeth I’s Secret Agents), with the directing team behind documentary LA 92 serving as consultants.

“National Geographic was clear from the start — they wanted a definitive documentary on the Kim dynasty, unlike anything produced before,” said 72 Films.

“We immersed ourselves in this project for a year, looking through archives that have not been viewed in decades and interviewing almost 50 people with perspectives that could shed light on this dynasty.”

The commission follows Nat Geo’s earlier purchase of two-part Channel 5 travelogue Michael Palin in North Korea, which aired recently.
