Monday Media starts drama prodco

Scandi production company Monday Media has launched a new drama arm and appointed a former DR and Appletree Productions executive to run it.

Anders Toft Andersen has been appointed head of scripted at Monday Scripted, a new drama production entity based in Denmark.

Toft Andersen comes from a position as producer at Piv Bernth’s Appletree Productions and was previously a producer at Danish pubcaster DR for a number of years.

His credits include Follow the Money, winner of Best Non-English-Language Drama at C21’s Drama Awards in 2016. He was also a producer on The Killing and Time Travel, as well as a number of feature films.

Martin Dalgaard, CEO at Monday Denmark, said: “Monday has always been passionate about telling stories, and scripted tells stories in a way no other genre can.

“We already produce comedy and light drama. By establishing Monday Scripted, and especially with Anders Toft spearheading the project, we will be boosting those areas and start moving into high-end drama production.”

Toft Anderson, who starts work on July 1, added: “Monday moves into scripted production with the determination and ambition that define them in all areas. I see Monday Scripted as a unique opportunity to create great scripted content.

“There are already productions in development and a pipeline of exciting projects. We will also be working with a number of strong formats from Monday’s Norwegian companies, which can be adapted for Denmark. I’m really looking forward to getting started.”
